Civilization V – Coming real soon

Posted on 25 May 2010 by @strategy_guide

The release of Civilization V is getting closer and closer. I remember the days, and I literally mean days that I would spend in front of my PC playing Civ 3 when it first came out. I managed to play 44 hours straight over the weekend before I had to go back into work. Ahh the memories. Actually I hope that my wife doesn't read this because her memories of the same event are not so fond lol.

That being said, Civilization V will be developed from scratch. They have rewritten the entire game engine to meet the expectations of Sid Meier who stated that this is the game that he had envisioned all along.

Anyway, here is the trailer:

The initial release date has been set for September 1, 2010. I hope it wont get delayed to much.

BTW check out this posting on http://www.vg247.com/2010/05/06/civilization-v-gets-steam-exclusive-digital-deluxe-edition/

2K’s announced that Civilization V will get a Steam-exclusive special edition when it’s released this fall.

The Digital Deluxe Edition of the Firaxis strategy title will get the soundtrack of the game, an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the game and a new campaign during the Babylonian civilization.

Anyone who orders the game in standard or deluxe edition will also get a map pack as DLC when the game does release, called “Cradle of Civilization Map Pack: Mesopotamia”.

Sounds like a good reason to pick up the deluxe version!
